High-Speed Connectivity for Regional Queensland’s Industries & Towns
Channel Wireless provides reliable high-performance internet and wireless infrastructure for mining, agriculture, construction, and underserved regional towns—delivered as a strategic technical partnership, not just a service.
Throughout regional Queensland towns that previously had little to no reliable internet, Channel Wireless, working with trusted partners, has begun deploying town-wide point-to-point (PTP) backhaul and high-speed access. These early rollouts are starting to close digital blackspots for schools, clinics, councils, small businesses, and public services, turning isolation into opportunity with resilient, low-latency connectivity that wasn’t available before.
We extend purpose-built infrastructure into mining camps, farms and construction sites. Using hybrid fibre/fixed wireless backhaul, GPON/PTMP local distribution, managed on-site WiFi, and integrated voice/collaboration, we give remote operations visibility, safer and more connected workforces, and scalable capacity that grows with the project.
Key benefits:
-
Town-wide PTP high-speed backhaul into previously unserved or underserved communities via partner deployments
-
Reliable links for mining, agriculture, and construction in isolated and seasonal environments
-
On-site WiFi and internal comms for accommodation, crews, offices, and public spaces
-
Scalable infrastructure that adapts to growth and changing operational rhythms
-
Improved safety, worker wellbeing, and real-time operational transparency
-
Community uplift: access to education, healthcare, commerce, and government services
-
Turnkey design, deployment, training, and local ongoing support
Some of Our Projects

1
John Dee Warwick

"Channel WIreless delivered city grade Internet to John Dee at an extremely reasonable price in mid 2020. It is ten times faster than the previous available internet. Due to our location, we had significant difficulty sourcing a reliable commercial grade internet connection at a reasonable price. We were quoted up to twenty times the installation cost and twice the annual costs for 20% of the Channel Wireless delivered performance. The installation was very professional, and the reliability of the service has been excellent. Support, when needed, has been first class. Our ability to access cloud based service offerings and utilise video based training and internal communication has substantially improved our company overall, and is a key component of the major digital transformation project undertaken during 2020 and 2021. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Channel Wireless based on our experience.”

Lake Vermont Village

Channel Wireless successfully tendered to provide high-speed internet to more than 600 remote workers at the Jellinbah owned Lake Vermont Village in Dysart.
As a telecommunications carrier, Channel Wireless combines advanced engineering expertise and customer focused outcomes deliver high-speed infrastructure solutions tailored for remote mine sites and workers' camps.
In the case of Lake Vermont Village, we connected the main office to high-speed fibre optics and implemented a hybrid GPON, Fibre, and WiFi Network to provide seamless connectivity for workers. This network supports IP security cameras and ensures common area internet accessibility. All users benefit from Gigabit capacity, and our end-to-end service management extends from the Data Centre in Brisbane to individual devices.
The collaborative vision of Jellinbah and Thiess, coupled with the effective execution of services by Channel Wireless, contributes to enhancing employee well-being through social responsibility measures, boosting productivity, and improving safety within the mining industry.
Committed to meeting the unique telecommunications needs of the mining industry, Channel Wireless remains dedicated to ensuring safe and efficient operations.

Bluff Village Workers Accommodation

Bluff Workers Camp, owned and operated by Minumbra, serves as a remote accommodation site for mine workers. Channel Wireless undertook the construction of a fiber optic network to the site. Subsequently, Channel Wireless installed fixed wireless connections in each donga, implementing a localised WiFi solution with WiFi access available in each room. The end result is an impressive internet speed of up to 1Gbps for each user, dramatically transforming communication capabilities for workers. This enhancement facilitates seamless connections with loved ones, family, and instantaneous access to work systems, ultimately contributing to improved productivity.
Channel Wireless has not only brought state-of-the-art connectivity to Bluff Workers Camp but has also revolutionised the overall communication experience for its residents. The fiber optic network serves as a robust backbone, while the fixed wireless installations ensure reliable and high-speed access for individual users. This transformation underscores the commitment of Channel Wireless to delivering cutting-edge solutions that significantly impact remote work environments.
By integrating modern technology into the camp's infrastructure, Channel Wireless has played a pivotal role in enhancing the quality of life for workers at Bluff Workers Camp. The implementation of high-speed internet not only strengthens connections with families but also provides immediate access to work-related systems and infrastructure, fostering an environment conducive to heightened productivity and well-being.

Connecting Goondiwindi with CBNCo

"We cannot speak highly enough of the relationship that we have with Channel Wireless they have helped us to deliver much-needed internet coverage to over 300 rural residents and businesses in the Goondiwindi region"
- Trent Murray, Director CBNCo.
In 2017, Channel Wireless approached Goondiwindi Communications with a solution to build a local internet service provider (ISP) to address the town's internet connectivity problems. These problems included slow speeds, patchy service, and a lack of support from major national telecommunications providers. In response to this Goondiwindi Communications formed CBNCo to provide town-wide internet.
Channel Wireless designed and now provides ongoing management of a fixed wireless internet network for CBNCo in Goondiwindi. Connected Networks also provisioned a "telco in a box" solution for CBNCo, which includes pricing models, support, tools, and training to perform all installations.
The network has also helped to stimulate economic development in the town and accordingly below are a few of the benefits of the fixed wireless internet network:
-
Reliable and high-speed internet access
-
Increased economic development
-
Improved quality of life for residents
-
Reduced reliance on major national telecommunications providers
The fixed wireless internet network is a valuable asset to Goondiwindi and has made a positive impact on the town.

"Channel Wireless have proven to be an exceptional technology partner and contractor for QCN Fibre. Our collaboration has been instrumental in navigating and successfully executing complex projects in regional Queensland, achieving the desired project outcomes. Together, we continue to pave the way for enhanced connectivity solutions and technological advancements in the region." - Derek Merdith, CEO, QCN Fibre
Channel Wireless was appointed Principal Contractor to QCN Fibre for a number of significant projects under the Regional Connectivity Program. These projects include the building of three towers and 30+ kilometers of fiber optic network in the Central Highlands District of Queensland.
As a result of these projects, Channel Wireless is now able to deliver high-speed internet to the towns of Bluff, Duaringa, and Dingo. Previously, residents of these towns were only able to get download speeds of 5-10 Mbps on the NBN network. With Channel Wireless new infrastructure, residents can now get download speeds of up to 250 Mbps for the same price.
This increased speed and reliability of internet access will have a number of benefits for residents of these towns. They will be able to work from home more effectively, access educational resources online, and stream movies and TV shows without buffering.
